When discussing art in Cameroon, this son of the West does not want to be outdone. “Black and proud”! If we had to define Keulion, those three words would suffice. Nothing to do with his dark complexion but more with his works between colors and shadows. Works based on an artistic approach, which some call “African Spiritual Writing” and which he calls “Banka” (like his tribe): “a call to the ancestors. We need them to evolve,” as he puts it so well.

This call crosses borders and spreads, better understood in Chad, Ivory Coast, Senegal … A continental success linked to his drawings that are born while being dotted with certain effects. Effects, whose source of inspiration is simple: “I am alive, and I am interested in what lives around me, I propose my environment,” he explains in one of his poems, “Banka: memory of the future.”

« Je suis vivant et je m’intéresse à ce qui vit autour de moi »

In 2013, his singular fingering via Body painting was revealed. Since then, many things have evolved, and changed. Today, between frescoes and street art, Arnaud Clovis KeuleuNguekam (civil status) plays his artist card in “elitist” events. Student at the Doctoral School of Plastic Arts of the University of Yaoundé I, a native of Douala, lives from art. Normal, the most beautiful moments of his life are those he spends awaiting creation. “I live it fully, it’s something enjoyable, creating is an incredible orgasm,” he says. Unique moments, through which he has only one dream: “to bring a plus to the human.” He aspires to perpetuate his humanity, but he is one of those who think it is necessary to share to evolve. It is with colors in his eyes and concepts in his soul that this young man, third in a family of four children, embellishes his daily life with his hands. Asking for the moment, this bourlingueur does not think about it. In the meantime, he is causing a sensation through creations germinating from his imagination. And the colors of his dreams take shape on the skins, with brushstrokes. Call him body painter!
