The name Lino Versace still evokes memories of the inception of ‘Coupé-Décalé’. During those years, Lino Versace embodied a refined style and distinctive dance moves. However, times have changed. Today, the singer has established himself as an entrepreneur without completely fading from the spotlight. It is a new life, filled with responsibilities, for the man who once mentored Dj Arafat and shared a roof with him for two years.
Alain Désiré Yoro, mostly known as Lino Versace, now an entrepreneur, is the co-founder of “One Radio” broadcasting from Abidjan, Ivory Coast, on the frequency 87.7. This media platform, which was launched with a capital of 50 million CFA francs, together with his partners, provides high-quality content to young people across Africa, with a particular focus on the Ivorian audience. “We have recognized that the misuse of social networks is a problem for our youths. It was important to create a medium that educates these youths, who represent the future. Our objective is to contribute to the construction of a united Africa, hence the name One Radio”.
Although music enthusiasts may be unaware of his entrepreneurial skills, it should be noted that this is not his first venture into business. Back in the early 2000s, when he was one of the founding members of “La Jet set” crew (which included Doug Saga, Boro Sangui, Le Molare, among others), he already had entrepreneurial endeavors under his belt. Besides his car sales business, he also imported and sold goods from Benin, Ghana and Togo, with a particular emphasis on branded clothing. In the business world, his fondness for fashion was evident. “It is a part of my culture. I grew up with an appreciation for beautiful things”.
During this interview, his latest single was “Rendez-vous au Sommet”. Despite his business endeavors, Alain is very much active in the “Game.” He was one of the pioneers of the ‘Coupé-Décalé’ movement, which remains influential decades later. This unassuming individual, who considers himself an instrument of God, has contributed to the development of numerous musical careers. He served as the artistic director of the late DJ Arafat’s album, which features the hit song “My darling should not cry.” He was also responsible for facilitating collaborations between Yorobo, David Monsoh and Gim’s. Other artists, such as Fally Ipupa, Singuila and Ferre Gola, have benefited from his experience. However, he prefers not to dwell on these achievements. Serving others and effecting positive change is now Alain’s focus. “The most important thing is to be a catalyst for personal transformation,” he asserts.
His current project is charity work. He is in the process of establishing the ‘Coupé-Décalé’ Foundation, a project dedicated to supporting the widows of artists and ensuring the education and social stability of their children. Additionally, Alain Désiré Yoro has a deep commitment to constructing a center that serves as an alternative to establishments that attract young people towards unhealthy habits. He envisions this center as a suitable environment where youths can gather to build, study and work towards a better future.
