From accounting to audiovisual, event planning to interior design, the Cameroonian entrepreneur behind RM Services has found her calling in project management, which she executes with unwavering determination. Her days begin at the crack of dawn and extend into the late hours of the night. Within her offices nestled in Yaounde’s Bastos neighborhood, the aesthetic allure of her spiral staircases reflect her penchant for beauty and sophistication. RaïssaMariameMfoute, an imposing figure and a woman of fortitude, passionately narrates her professional journey. “I am a project manager. I thrive on shouldering the stress of others. When you entrust your project to me, irrespective of the industry, you can rest assured. I find solace in being in control and leading teams. It’s an innate quality. In my family, they affectionately call me ‘commando’,” she remarks, smiling.
As a project manager, she oversees the entire lifecycle of a project on behalf of clients, from conception to completion. This endeavor is not devoid of risks. “In project management, risk assessment is integral. What is planned seldom unfolds exactly as envisioned. Hence, the need for anticipation and adaptability,” she explains. Whether in Cameroon, Dubai, or other corners of the globe, Raïssa Mariame Mfoute unleashes her talent, delivering impeccable results and captivating spaces that evoke an eternal desire to dwell within. “My inspiration emanates from the finest creations abroad. When I witness successful productions on the internet or television, I do not merely conclude that it is yet to be accomplished here. Instead, my immediate question is how it can be achieved,” she reveals. “I began in event planning. However, my academic background is in accounting and business management. I also pursued a six-month course in interior design in Dubai” explains the enterprising manager. After serving as an executive assistant in a Douala-based organization, she secured the same position in Yaounde, at Terminal A, an audiovisual content production company owned by renowned lawyer and politician, Akere Muna. Raïssa Mariame Mfoute also contributed to the presidential candidate’s campaign team during the 2018 presidential election. “I advise young women across the African continent to cultivate immense patience and work diligently, as success is not easily attained. To embark on a career in project management, one must invest 100% effort,” she explains, particularly to those aspiring to venture into this field.
